Manual configuration

Follow the guide below to check and configure Windows Live Mail 2011 to send and receive your Virgin Media e-mail. Windows Live Mail 2011 is an optional download from the Microsoft site, available to Windows 7 and Windows Vista users only. If you are a Windows XP user, you need the article How do I check my email settings in Windows Live Mail?  .

This guide assumes that you have already downloaded and installed the software. If you're setting up Windows Live Mail 2011 for the first time, see How do I set up Windows Live Mail 2011?

Don’t worry if you get stuck - Windows Live Mail is now one of the e-mail clients supported by our technical support team.

Here’s how to check your mail account(s) in Windows Live Mail 2011:

1. Open Launch Windows Live Mail 2011 from the Start > All Programs menu. The icon looks like the one shown below.

If you already have a Virgin Media e-mail account set up in Windows Live Mail, it will be listed in the left-hand column.

2. To check the settings of your account, click the right mouse button once over the title of e-mail account (just above the Inbox), and then click Properties from the menu that appears.
