Virgin Media Remote Control Codes

You can set-up your Virgin Remote Control to operate the Volume and Mute functions on your TV so you only need one remote to watch TV.

Firstly, please select your remote control type from the images below:

Remote types 1 & 2

These remote types can’t be programmed to control your TV Volume. For help and advice, contact us free on 150 from your Virgin Media phone or mobile, or 0845 454 1111* from any other phone and select option 2.

These remote types can be programmed to control your TV Volume. Simply look up the 4-digit code for your make of TV from the list here, then follow the instructions below.

Handy Hint: If your TV isn’t listed above, then follow the instructions shown below using the code 0010.

Quick instructions:

  1. Press and hold down the *(star) and SETTINGS buttons together on your remote control for a few seconds until the remote light flashes green twice
  2. Enter 000 and press OK
  3. Adjust the volume so that you can see 10 yellow bars in the bottom left of the screen. If the volume is too loud, use your ORIGINAL TV remote to turn it down
  4. Make sure you have looked-up the 4-digit TV Code for your make of TV (if your TV isn’t listed, use code 0010 instead)
  5. Once again, press and hold down the *(star) and SETTINGS buttons together on your remote for a seconds, until the light flashes twice

As soon as your TV switches off, release the STANDBY key and press the OK key. Note, you might need to keep the STANDBY key pressed down for some minutes before anything happens.
  8. Turn your TV back on, and test the volume keys. If they don’t control your TV, repeat steps 5 to 7.

If your TV brand isn’t listed above, or the code for your TV hasn’t worked, try repeating steps 5 to 8 using the code 0010 – this performs a search through all the codes in the remote, which can take some time to complete.

The TiVo remote can be set up to control the Standby, Volume and Mute on your TV.

1. Click here then look for your make of TV and the 4 digit code(s) that matches it. If there is more than one code for your TV make and model choose one code to try first.

2. Make sure your TV and your TiVo box are switched on.

3. Press and hold down and at the same time, until the light on the top of the remote flashes green twice.

4. Enter the four digit code for your TV’s make and model number from the list. The LED should then flash green twice. This shows you have entered a valid code.

5. Press and to check that the remote is working. If not, repeat the steps above using a different code for your TV from the list.

6. Once you’ve programmed your remote you’ll notice that the light on the top will flash green instead of red when using it for Standby, Volume and Mute control.

7. The remote can only store one code at a time, so you can’t have more than one TV set, unless the TV make and model uses the same code. This also means that you can’t have a TV and an AV device programmed at the same time.

Searching for a TV remote control code

4. When the TV turns off, release channel up and press on the remote to turn the TV back on.

5. Press and to check that the remote is working with your TV. If they don’t, continue to search using channel up until the next code turns off the TV, and repeat steps 4 and 5.

6. When the Volume and Mute keys work, press to store the code. The LED will then flash green twice.

7. If you reach the end of the code database, the light on top of the remote will give an extended red flash and exit programming mode.
