How to change your home page in XP

The home page is the page that displays when you first open your web browser. You can have any web page as your home page, and you can change it at any time. Before you change your home page, you’ll need to know the full address (called the URL) of the page you want as your home page (for example, www.virginmedia.com).

Follow the steps below to change your Internet Explorer home page on a Windows XP PC: (If you use another web browser, just take a look at the Help section of your browser to find out how to do this.)

1.  Double click the Internet Explorer icon on your desktop to open your web browser.

By the way, the screens shown are Windows XP screens. If you have another version of Windows, the steps described in this section are the same, although the screens will look a bit different.

2.  Click on Tools and then select Internet Options.

Select the General tab, The URL of the current home page is listed in the box labelled Address (called Home page in Windows Vista).

3.  Delete the current home page, and type in the address of the home page you want to use, for example, www.virginmedia.com

4.  Click on Apply, then click on OK.

Now, whenever you open Internet Explorer, your browser will load the web page you have just chosen!
