How to optimise your computer for advanced users

If you want to do some more advanced PC housekeeping, you might like to run a Disk Cleanup or Disk Defragmenter program. These ensure that there are no problems with your computer's hard disk.

We suggest you only use these if you’re an advanced PC user. If you are not an advanced PC user, do not try to activate these programs. Virgin Media takes no responsibility for any consequences that arise from running these programs on your computer. Instead, why not try our Digital Home Support service.

If you do want to go ahead, these programs can be run in Windows by clicking on the Start button, then clicking on Programs, then Accessories, and finally click on System Tools. You can then choose to run either Disk Cleanup or Disk Defragmenter, and follow the on-screen instructions.

Got a Mac? You can find out how to clean up your hard disk by reading this Apple Support article.
