How to check and reboot the router on National
Checking your wireless setup
If your computer uses a wireless connection, the router setup should look like the one shown below.

- The power cable should be attached between the router and the power socket.
- The telephone cable should be attached between the router and the ADSL filter.
- The ADSL filter should be plugged into your main phone socket. Another telephony device, such as a phone or a fax machine, can then be plugged into the ADSL filter.
Checking your wired (Ethernet) setup
If your computer uses a wired (Ethernet) connection, the router setup should look like the one shown below.

- The power cable should be attached between the router and the power socket.
- The Ethernet cable should be attached between any of the four available ports on the router and the computer.
- The telephone cable should be attached between the router and the ADSL filter.
- The ADSL filter should be plugged into your main phone socket. Another telephony device, such as a phone or a fax machine, can then be plugged into the ADSL filter.
Rebooting your equipment
The process to reboot your broadband equipment is the same for both wireless and wired connections:
- Switch off the power to the wireless router at the wall, or unplug it if there is no power socket switch.
- Shut down your computer.
- Wait at least 20–30 seconds.
- Turn the router back on and wait for about two minutes, or until the router's lights settle into a stable pattern.
- Finally, turn on your computer.
