Broadband and Internet :
Wireless Networking
What is home networking?
In a nutshell, ‘home networking’ means linking computers and/or devices together so that they can communicate and share information with each other. When a broadband connection is added, all the computers and devices on the home network can go online at the same time.
Home networks can be set up using wired connections, but it's becoming more and more popular to leave the wires behind and set up wireless networks, which offer convenience and flexibility.
Benefits of home networking:
1. Share your internet connection
If you have more than one computer, installing a home network means you can share a single internet connection, so that more than one person in your home can get online at the same time – wire-free.
2. Share a printer and transfer files
You'll also be able to share a printer between your computers, and transfer files between machines without the need to keep swapping disks.
3. Go online wherever you like
If you've got a laptop, wireless broadband means you can get online anywhere in the home, with no cables or wires tying you down.
4. Connect other wireless equipment in your home
It's not just typical computers and laptops that are able to connect to your wireless network. If you’ve got a games console or smart phone, for example, you can add them too.
5. Stream music
If you're into digital audio and video, a home network can enable you to stream music or movies stored on your computer or perhaps an MP3 player to your home theatre system or TV.
