Broadband Connection
How to check your username and password
Want to double check your details? You can do that using the router’s interface, or by checking the connection box if you are using the Speedtouch modem. Refer to the steps below, depending on which broadband device you are using.
Netgear router
From a computer connected to the router, follow these steps:
1. Open a web browser (like Internet Explorer or Mac Safari).
2. In the address bar, type in 192.168.0.1. The main menu of the router interface opens.
3. Click on Basic Settings. The login is displayed, and the password is shown as a series of asterisks, just to keep things secure. Now you can check that:
4. If you need to, re-enter the login and password, and click on Apply.
Try to connect again. If you still can’t connect, go to the next step.
Speedtouch router
From a computer connected to the router, follow these steps:
1. Open a web browser (like Internet Explorer or Mac Safari).
2. In the address bar, type in speedtouch.lan. The main menu of the router interface opens.
3. Click on Internet under the Broadband Connection heading. The login is displayed, and the password is shown as a series of asterisks, just to keep things secure. Now you can check that:
4. If you need to, re-enter the login and password, and click on Apply.
Try to connect again. If you still can’t connect, go to the next step.
Speedtouch USB modem
From a computer connected to the modem, follow these steps:
1. Double-click on the Alcatel Speedtouch/Virgin Broadband icon on your desktop, as if you were going to dial the Internet. A connection box opens, showing your login name and password. (If the connection box tries to dial a connection automatically, click on Cancel.)
2. Now you can check that:
3. If you need to, re-enter the login and password. If you re-enter the password, first click on the Save Password box (if present) to remove the tick, then type in the password and then click on the Save Password box (if present) again to insert the tick.
Try to connect again. If you still can’t connect, go to the next step.
D-Link router
From a computer connected to the router, follow these steps:
1. Open a web browser (like Internet Explorer or Mac Safari).
2. In the address bar, type in 192.168.1.1. The main menu of the router interface opens.
3. Log in using the router's default username and password. You'll find this on the base of the router.
4. Click on Setup, the click to enter a tick in thie Manual setup box.
5. Enter your new password, and click on Save Settings.
Try to connect again. If you still can’t connect, go to the next step.
Thomson router
From a computer connected to the router, follow these steps:
1. Open a web browser (like Internet Explorer or Mac Safari).
2. In the address bar, type in 192.168.1.254. The main menu of the router interface opens.
3. Under Broadband connection select Internet.
4. Click on View more.
5. Enter your new password, and click on Connect.
Try to connect again. If you still can’t connect, go to the next step.
