There are two levels of protection offered by Virgin Media Security. All of our customers can access the benefits of Virgin Media Security for free. Upgrading to Virgin Media Security: Identity+ allows access to a range of additional tools that provide greater protection when browsing the internet. Both editions are powered by Trend-Micro, a market-leading internet security provider, ensuring trusted quality protection for your computer and your private information.

Anti-Malware

Malware is generally described as any software that intends to cause damage, disable or act in a hostile manner toward a computer system. Malware could be a virus, Trojan horse, worm or spyware.

The Virgin Media Security Anti-Malware service is capable of scanning for malware in files you open, save, download or receive by email and will do so in real-time.

Parental Controls

Using a password-protected account, Virgin Media Security allows parents to filter the internet by deciding which website categories their children can visit.

Parental Controls provides the flexibility to include or exclude certain sites, to view the history of sites a child has visited, and to determine what type of access is permitted at specific hours of the day, e.g. blocking access to social-network pages while homework is being done.

Firewall Booster

Combining the in-built protection of Windows Firewall with Virgin Media Security’s Firewall Booster helps protect against threats that fly below the radar.

Firewall Booster uses a Network Virus Scan and an Intrusion Detection System to prevent a range of attacks, such as the ‘Ping of Death’ and vulnerabilities in your computer’s standard defences; protecting your computer from being damaged or exploited.

Website Checker

The Website Checker is one of the best preventative measures available, determining in advance that a website contains malicious content and preventing access. With Website Checker, Virgin Media Security lets you set your level of protection strength. In addition to checking against a database of blacklisted sites, Website Checker will prevent a site from running malicious scripts or software, whether they're a known threat, or not.
