Using labels
Labels do all the work of folders and give you an extra bonus: you can add more than one to a conversation. Once you've created a label, you can view all the messages with that label by searching, or by clicking the label name along the left side of any Virgin Media Mail page.

You can easily create, edit, and delete existing labels. Here's how:
To create a label:
1. Select the message(s) you'd like to label by checking the box(es) next to the sender's name.
2. Click the labels button
3. Click Create new.
4. Enter your new label’s name and click Create.
The selected messages will automatically be categorised under the new label.
To edit a label:
1. Sign in to your Virgin Media Mail account.
2. Click Settings in the top right of your window.
3. Click the Label tab.
4. Scroll down to your labels and select Edit in the actions column of the label you wish to edit.
5. Enter the new label name and click Save.
* Note you can’t edit System Labels such as Inbox or Sent.
All the messages categorised under your old label name will now be categorised under your new label.
To delete a label:
1. Sign in to your Virgin Media Mail account.
2. Click Settings in the top right of your window.
3. Click the Label tab.
4. Click remove in the actions column next to the label you want to delete.
5. Confirm that you'd like to remove the label by clicking Save.
* Removing a label doesn't delete the messages previously categorised with that label.
After labelling a message or conversation you can remove it from your inbox by archiving it. Then, you can view archived messages by clicking All Mail, or by clicking the label name along the left side of any Virgin Media Mail page.
Folders
Actually, Virgin Media Mail doesn't use folders. To help you organise your mail more effectively, Virgin Media Mail uses labels instead.
Here's why we think labels are better than folders:
Labels | Folders |
A conversation can have more than one label | You can only put a message in one folder |
A conversation can be in several locations (Inbox, All Mail, Sent Mail, etc.) at once, making it easier to find later | You have to remember where you filed a message to retrieve it |
You can search conversations by label | You can't always do folder-specific searches |
Starred messages
Assign stars to special conversations or messages, or use them as a visual reminder that you need to follow-up on a message or conversation later.
Applying an action to everything in a label
You can apply the same action to all messages in a label or section of Virgin Media Mail (Inbox, Sent Mail, Spam, Bin, etc.), in just a few steps. Use this feature to archive all mail in your Inbox, apply labels to every message meeting certain criteria, delete all messages in Spam or Bin, or apply a filter to all relevant messages in your mail.
Here's how to take an action on all messages in a label or section of your mail:
1. Open the view (Inbox, Sent Mail, etc.) containing the messages on which you'd like to take an action.
2. Select all by checking the box along the top above your messages. You can also use the drop-down list.

3. Select the action you'd like to take from the More drop-down menu.
Here's how to apply a filter to all relevant messages in your mail:
1. Create a new filter
2. Before clicking Create Filter, check the box next to Also apply filter to [x] conversations below (the [x] represents the number of existing emails that match the filter)
Here's how to delete all messages in Spam or Bin at once:
1. Click the Spam or Bin label along the left-hand side of your Virgin Media Mail page.
2. Click Empty Bin now or Delete forever to delete all messages.
