How do I uninstall the National SpeedTouch modem on Windows?

The steps below will allow you to uninstall your National SpeedTouch 330 USB modem's software and hardware.

Got a Mac? Take a look at this guide instead.

Note that if you currently have a working Internet connection but do not have the modem installation CD, you should download the modem drivers before you uninstall the modem.

This uninstallation process is recommended in each of the following circumstances:

  • You need to reinstall your USB modem software (uninstalling first helps to prepare your machine for reinstallation).
  • You have upgraded to using a broadband router, and no longer need to use the SpeedTouch modem or its software.
  • You have ended your broadband service, and no longer need to use the SpeedTouch modem or its software.
Uninstalling the modem's software and hardware

If you still have your installation CD, simply run it again to uninstall your SpeedTouch modem's software and hardware. Otherwise, follow the steps below.

1. Go to the Control Panel and open Add or Remove Programs (on XP) or Programs and Features (on Vista).

2. Select the SpeedTouch 330 modem from the list of installed programs and click Uninstall/Change.

3. The SpeedTouch installation wizard will now guide you through the uninstallation of the software and hardware. Click Next to continue.

4. The uninstallation will now proceed.

5. Click Finish to exit the uninstallation wizard.

6. If it is still plugged in, the SpeedTouch 330 modem can now be unplugged from your computer.

7. Once you have uninstalled the software and unplugged the hardware, we recommend that you restart your computer straight away.

Note that on Windows Vista, uninstallation will not remove the following items:

  • The Connect to My ISP shortcut on Desktop
  • The C:\Program Files\Thomson\ folder.

If you wish, you can manually delete the above items.

Reinstalling the modem on Windows

To reinstall, simply run the installation CD again. If you don't have the installation CD, you can download the drivers here.

For more information on reinstalling, please see this guide.
